Emails Must Be Answered
Published on 2009-10-09
We are often amazed at how many businesses advertise a 'contact us' or 'information' email address, and then do not bother to respond to any enquiries sent to that email address.
The common fault is, when it is set up everyone is enthusiastic and checks it regularly. However, no emails arrive in the first few days or weeks, so they check less and less. When the emails do start coming in, they are rarely, if ever, checking anymore!
If you are not prepared to check your email addresses at least once, preferably twice, every 24 hours then do not list them. Instead put a phone number!
In our EasySell team we shop a lot online to save time, we book all our own holidays, trips and events online. In fact, we all do almost everything on line ( reading this, perhaps we are all in danger of becomling troglodytes :-)....certainly we are weblogdytes!). In the past few months we have kept a record of how much smaller businesses have lost from just our small team trying to shop online, and it is an average of over 3,000 usd per person!!
In every case, when no response is received, our team shops somewhere else.
Online business is growing, don't miss out on your share!
What Happened to the EasySell updates?
Published on 2009-08-21
I wanted to let all my members know that I am acutely aware that the regular free updates are well overdue. I do apologise and wanted to give you an explanation.
Last time we emailed our updates, we were accused of SPAM by our Host Provider, Net Registry, because we are told that one member reported us as SPAM. They must have forgotten subscribing, as we have a record of all registrations, so I hope they then unsubscribed. We were then threatened by NetRegsitry with disconnection of our dedicated server, if it happened again. Thus, we are in the process of implementing a new email solution to prevent such ever happening again. We hope to be back to normal within the next ten days with a great new email solution.
We promise we never SPAM anyone, not ever! We only email those people who have opted to receive our newsletters and updates and we keep very accurate records. We have a simple unsubscribe process, which is about to get even simpler, so if you dont want to receive our updates anymore please just unsubscribe or email me and I will do it for you. Please dont report us as SPAM, it causes lots of grief! If we emailed you, we promise that you did say we could, and it is is so easy to tell us you don't want to hear from us.
It is sad in the internet business that one person can do so much damage to a company who holds integrity as a core mission, and there seems to be a gross overreacion by service providers. However, this is the world in which we work so we will do our best to minimise future disruptions for such silly issues.
I will be giving you some great new tips and info about selling online, and soon EasySell will be having a facial :-) A nice upgrade to our image.
Thank you all for your support, we really love our customers!
Marketing Your Online Site
Published on 2009-07-06
Keywords are an important part of any website, but especially important for a sales website.
Keywords that you list for your site, are the only map that search engines have to find your site. If they can make a direct match between what the potential customer is searching for, and the keywords on your site, then you will rank much higher on their search result pages.
Your keywords must be relevant to your site, and the main keywords should be mentioned a few times on your home page.
For example if you sell special organic coffee, what do you think people will type into Google to try and find organic coffee products? If you have a unique coffee that people know about eg Lewak Coffee, then also use that also as a keyword, as it will minimize competitors.
Think of keywords like the signs you would see at the front of your physical shop – signs that you would have to attract customers in through your door, signs that you would use to stop someone driving by, that needed your product or service.
Put your keywords in order of most importance.
There are free tools to help you find your best keywords, try using Google's free service:
It is easy to use and understand. There are other free tools you can use, or trial offers but they are more complex and require more advanced skills.
If you do not have web skills then you will need to ask your webmaster to change your keywords for you, but YOU as the marketeer must choose the keywords you want. Do not leave this to your webmaster, even the best webmasters are specialised in building you a great site, it is not their job to market it.
If you want to see what your keywords are, then follow these simple steps:
1. Open your home page
2. Right click on an empty space
3. Select View Source
4. Now you will see code, look for
<meta name="keywords" content=" usually in the top half of your screen
Everything listed after the = are your keywords
Good News, If you have an EasySell Classifed Ad, or webshop, then EasySell makes sure your ad ( or shop) is included with our keywords.
What does this mean for you?
If you are selling Organic Coffee for example, then 'organic coffee' can be found by Google, as well as EasySell!
Online Sales are UP, UP, UP so don’t waste a minute of the best time ever to sell online!
